Wave of Light @ Northumberlandia 2017

Teardrop Support arranged, hosted and paid for a Wave of Light memorial lantern and luminaria walk on Sunday night at Northumberlandia the lady of the north.  200 families congregated at the visitor centre of Northumberlandia and were greeted with an individual luminaria bag and lantern.  We then processed along a candle lit woodland path onto the body of the lady of the north where a moving service took place.  We had readings from the lead chaplain, bereavement midwives and modern matrons from the maternity unit of Northumbria Healthcare NHS Trust.  This was a very peaceful time for the families to come forward and light a personal candle for their loved one and a minute silence for everyone to reflect was well observed.  Babies whose families were unable to attend were also remembered at this time. Refreshments were offered and gift bags given after the walk to give families the chance to meet and support each other. There was a lot of hard work put in to make the event so successful and special thanks to the Lead Chaplain and staff from the maternity unit at NSECH and to the photographers from Incident Light photography. We are extremely grateful to Northumberlandia and the partners of Northumberlandia for allowing us to hold the event at this fantastic venue.
